Q: What is ozone?

A: Ozone is a pale blue unstable gas that is very active. It is an unstable molecule consisting of 3 atoms; whereas normal oxygen has 2 atoms of oxygen. Because the ozone molecule is so unstable, it quickly breaks away from the other oxygen atoms. This lone ozone atom goes in search of other atoms. If it finds a carbon or a sulfur molecule, it will break into that molecule destroying it in the process. Since all pollutants described are carbon based, OZONE is the answer.

Q: Can ozone hurt me?

A: Yes, if you are not trained and experienced! High levels of ozone can injure and irritate breathing in humans. All Medallion technicians wear protective clothing and are qualified to operate and conduct ozone shock treatments. The EPA has determined that the highest level of safe ozone is 0.05 ppm. Medallion generates ozone at lethal levels exceeding 20.0 ppm during the "ozone blasting." This is why no people, pets or plants can remain in the home or building during our treatments. A typical treatment averages 3-5 hours in length.

Q: Using Medallion’s technologies, what do you treat and remove?

A: We remove the following using our technologies: toxic molds, smoking odors, animal odors, urine & feces odors, cooking odors and obnoxious smells, toxic bacteria, viruses, germs, dust mites & their feces, yeast, paint and carpet off-gassing, mildew and smoke odor distress. In some cases, technicians are required to use fungicides, chemicals and removal techniques prior to the secondary ozone shock treatment. Scientific studies show that these indoor air pollutants can cause humans to have moderate to severe health reactions.

Q: How long does an Ozone Shock Treatment or Mold Remediation take?

A: A normal ozone shock treatment typically takes 3-5 hours to conduct. If mold or severe pet odors are present, it can take a bit longer to treat. However, one can expect treatment to never take more than 24 hours unless requested.

Q: I have MOLD in my house! Why should I choose Medallion?

A: There are several reasons! Medallion technicians are certified and able to conduct mold inspections and sampling (swab and air) with ease and at an affordable cost. Whether the mold lab results are available from a certified mold inspector or from Medallion, Medallion can provide clients with a timely and cost effective estimate that includes mold removal using the latest remediation techniques and methodologies, coupled with the use of pure ozone. This is what we call our “one-two punch.” Not only does Medallion’s methodologies remove and kill mold, they clean the air and remove other harmful indoor pollutants in one swoop. All of this is provided for a fraction of the cost of traditional remediation firms.

Q: What does an “Ozone Shock Treatment” or mold remediation cost?

A: Depending on the situation, costs can run from $295 for an apartment ozone shock treatment all the way to a few thousand for mold remediation and treatment. Generally our prices are a fraction of most competitors because we own this proprietary methodology. Please see price list for further details.

Q: Once ozone is introduced into a closed environment, how do technicians remove it from the indoor environment?

A: All technicians carry sophisticated measurement devices that measure the levels of ozone. Wearing air masks and full body suits when conducting a treatment, technicians are prepared for whatever is thrown at them. Upon completion, technicians open all windows and doors and evacuate the ozone into the exterior environment using high-powered fans.

Q: I’ve heard about ozone machines causing walls to yellow. Will this happen if I use Medallion to treat my home or building?

A: No! Our Proprietary High Powered Ozone Generators produce pure ozone with no bi-products. Other manufacturers of ozone equipment produce Nitrous Oxides which when mixed with moisture become Nitric Acid. This is dangerous and can cause damage to a home or belongings.

Q: Will there be a smell after the ozone treatment takes place?

A: Most clients report that the smell in the house, building, car, etc. smells like a waterfall or has a “clean smell.” After 3-4 days, this smell dissipates. All odors are removed.

Q: I know you treat homes and commercial buildings, but do you treat anything else?

A: Absolutely! Medallion’s technicians have been known to treat airplanes, vehicles, RV’s, boats, gyms, schools, storage centers, offices, restaurants and bars, and on and on. If it is an enclosed area where an odor or fungus can grow, we treat it!
